Free Tools That I Recommend

  • Photoscape X

I know Photoshop is the state-of-the-art and Gimp is the Open Source alternative to it, however I prefer an easy to use a tool that's powerful enough to do what I need without being overwhelming. The free version of Photoscape X is that tool! I use for a lot of things, from resizing images to cutting silhouettes out.

  • DAZ Studio

Skeletons are an important part of my work. This free 3D tool allows me to pose them in an easy and intuitive way. The software comes with some basic human models that you can pose, dress-up and use in your art, and they have a marketplace where you can find extra characters and props.

  • Sweet Home 3D

This surprisingly powerful yet easy to use tool allows me to quickly create and visualize 3d scenes. In addition to a basic furniture library and some standard architectural elements (doors, windows, stairs...), this software also imports external models (such as my beloved skeletons...), and makes it really easy to create high quality still renders and animated videos.

  • Pixabay

My work could be described as heavily filtered digital collages, and to make collages I need stock material. Pixabay is an amazingly complete library of free stock material, from photographs to vector images, videos and even music. The site is easy to browse, and the quality of some of the material is quite good. I have contributed some free images to this site.

  • NightCafĂ©

Yes, I also use some AI generated images as stock material. As I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, I have written out my thoughts about it. Anyway, if you're into AI image generation, NightCafé is an interesting alternative, with many models, mostly based on Stable Diffusion.

  • KVR Audio

One of the most complete resources to find free (and commercial) software, virtual instruments and effects to make music. I use many free plugins in my production work, and most of them were downloaded from KVR. The site is easy to use and very well organized. As a developer myself, I publish my plugins there too.

  • Routenote

As I'm weirdly prolific, I have released over 700 tracks in the last few years on all the streaming platforms. That wouldn't have been possible without Routenote, a service that allows you to distribute your music without an upfront fee. They only take a 15% commission from your royalties, so they only make money when you make money. Note: If you join using the link below, Routenote will give me a 2% from their 15%.
